Kashmir

This trip to Kashmir happened finally in June 2008 so I missed most of the melting snows. But there are still some fairly redeeming shots. Here goes:

Sonamarg, Kashmir. The contrast of green, white and blue makes this one of my favorite images of the trip.

Zojila. The first of the passes as you get out of the valley of Kashmir into Ladakh. This photo was taken at an altitude of roughly 13,000 feet above MSL, and captures a somewhat brooding Zojila with its many hairpin bends and the river Sindh at its base. Thi

Pahalgam. The river Lidder in full flow, headed in a hurry to whereever it heads. "Meander" is hardly a word you'd associate with any of these rivers....they're mostly in a tearing hurry.

Ok....its taken a while uploading these three photos. More later. I have abiding memories of playing the guitar at the dead of the night with the strings sounding magical over the flowing fury of the river, starting from the As and Ds of "Rivers of Babylon" to generic chord combinations that fit the night's mood. It was my travel guitar (an aging Hobner).

thx, Shalom and "I Scribble Here".

"I Scribble Here" - Rivers of Babylon was also my first song as far as chord transition goes, but I found the strumming pattern somewhat challenging so I picked up an old Abba song "I have a dream, a song to sing" first because it has a simple quarter beat all-down strumming pattern and major chords only.
